A Safe & Supportive Space for Emotional Expression

🌿 Counselling for Children & Adolescents

Children and teenagers experience big emotions too—but they don’t always have the words to explain what’s going on inside.

Sometimes this shows up as anxiety, big reactions, withdrawal, behavioural changes, or struggles at school or in relationships. As a parent, it can be hard to know how to support them.

In counselling, I provide a safe, supportive space where young people can begin to make sense of their feelings, build emotional awareness, and feel more in control of their world.

‍

🧠 How I Support Young People

My approach is gentle, flexible, and tailored to your child’s age and needs.

For younger children, this often includes play-based and creative approaches, as this is their natural way of communicating and processing experiences. For adolescents, sessions may include more conversation-based support, while still incorporating creative or experiential tools where helpful.

This might look like:

  • Talking and exploring thoughts and feelings in a relaxed way
  • Creative expression through drawing, storytelling, or activities
  • Play-based techniques to process emotions safely
  • Learning simple, age-appropriate strategies for managing big feelings

Rather than expecting children to “fit” into therapy, I shape the sessions around how they feel most comfortable expressing themselves.

‍

đź’› What I Can Help With

I support children and adolescents who may be experiencing:

  • Anxiety, worries, or school-related stress
  • Emotional outbursts or difficulty regulating feelings
  • Low mood, withdrawal, or changes in behaviour
  • Friendship or social challenges
  • Bullying or school difficulties
  • Family changes such as separation or relocation
  • Trauma, loss, or difficult life experiences

🌱 Supporting Growth & Emotional Wellbeing

Counselling can help young people:

  • Better understand and express their emotions
  • Feel calmer and more regulated
  • Build confidence and self-esteem
  • Develop healthy coping strategies
  • Strengthen relationships with family and peers

Most importantly, it gives them a space where they feel heard, understood, and accepted—sometimes for the first time.

‍

🤍 A Safe Space for Your Child

I take a compassionate, child-centred approach, creating an environment where children and adolescents feel safe to explore their inner world without pressure or judgement.

Every child is different, and I work closely with both the young person and their caregiver (where appropriate) to ensure they feel supported every step of the way.
